About Horses And Your Horse Jewelry: Horses were not native to the Americas until they had been brought over by the Spanish. Horses have been domestic by humans since ancient times. Domestication of the horse likely took place in central Asia prior to 3500 BCE.  Horses were first brought to North America by Spanish conquistadors in the late 1400s. Wild Horses thrived on the open land in Americas and in some places, still do. But the wild horse is really an endangered spices as the land they once roamed is less and less due to human population expansion. There is a very strong bound between horses and humans. I believe that there is a spiritual connection that we do not understand. Horses are herd animals and want to be with other horses. They have a strong fight or flight response and will often run from what they see or hear as danger. They are adopted to run. Their first reaction to a threat is to startle and usually flee, although they will stand their ground and defend themselves when flight is impossible or if their young are threatened. They also tend to be curious; when startled, they will often hesitate an instant to ascertain the cause of their fright, and may not always flee from something that they perceive as non-threatening.

People of all ages with physical and mental disabilities obtain beneficial results from an association with horses. Therapeutic riding is used to mentally and physically stimulate disabled persons and help them improve their lives through improved balance and coordination, increased self-confidence, and a greater feeling of freedom and independence. The Wild Horse is on the endangered species list and we must save the remaining ones.

The Horse Spirit: The spirit of the horse can help people’s self-awareness and spiritual enlightenment. They remind people to take care of one’s mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. The horse also symbolizes freedom due to its naturally powerful and wild spirit. It always wants to break free. Therefore the horse has become a symbol of freedom.
